And there was much rejoicing!

It's official. The worst is behind us. We still have quite a bit of winter to endure, but the worst is definately behind us. As if to prove it, I heard birds chirping as I left the house and saw a hint of dawn's early light as I drove to work this morning. Yes my friends, the worst is behind us.

I was in Minneapolis when I took this photo, but since my heart was technically still in St. Paul, I thought it was ok to post this. It's the steeple of the Hamline University Methodist Church steeple on the Minneapolis campus.

The Ford Power Plant

Ford Motor Company has a factory in St. Paul. The factory produces Ford Ranger trucks. Ford built this power plant to supply power to the factory. The plant is one of only two vehicle plants in the world powered exclusively by non-carbon energy. The Ford factory gets its power from its own hydroelectric station below the plant on the Mississippi River, saving considerable electricity costs. It's not sexy, but there it is!

What I love about this image is the wispy white clouds in the air. They almost seem to mirror the slope of the roof.

The St. Paul Curling Club

This is the St. Paul Curling Club. Curling is a curious sport, similar to shuffleboard but on ice. Since the website for the Curling Club can tell you all about it, I'm just going to tell my curling story with pictures. Enjoy.

Artwork on the wall of the Chipotle at Grand and Victoria. Chipotle is a fast food burrito place. Pretty good artwork for a fast food joint. And this big guy appears to be enjoying a burrito made out of metal. Yum.

Garden of Sculpture, St. Paul. It was sunny, but only 8 degrees fahrinheit when these photos were taken.

The intersection of Grand and Victoria is a hub of activity.

Cafe Latte is a particular favorite of mine. Part coffee house, part wine bar, part bakery, part high end cafeteria. Always crowded. Always delicious.

Baked goods at Cossetta's Italian Grocery. And to my regular readers, I posted this successfully from home. Ta-Da!!!

The Copper Dome sells pancakes. Any kind you want. When we have time to spend (because the service is slow) we go there for breakfast. There are tons of old flour sacks framed and hung on the walls. They also have old cans of flour lined up on shelves. It's interesting to check out the old packaging in an area where so much flour used to be milled.

This is Como Park in St. Paul. The sun has been making a few appearences lately so I've been running outside to capture it.


As the sun was setting in the park, this woman was going for a stroll, the wind whipping her long coat and her hair.



The lake, usually frozen solid this time of year, has puddles on it's surface. You wouldn't catch me out on a lake when the weather is this warm, but the fellow in the photo here braved it.

Miraculously the sun came out today. As I was sucking vitamin D in through my eyeballs with greed, I took this photo of the St. Paul Cathedral.



St. Paul is home to the Minnesota State Capital building. Looks like The White House, don't you think? But I can't figure out why that statue guy in the foreground is up higher than most humans can see.....him and his one leg...

I can barely contain my excitement as I post my very first St. Paul picture taken with my fancy pants camera and posted on my fancy pants brand new laptop. Hopefully there will be many more in the future and the quality of the photos will improve.
