Snow Eating Monster!

You learn something new every day. Today I learned that there are machines that will eat snow! Cool beans.

Occasionally, this Saint Paul chick heads across the river to Minneapolis. Trailer Trash's Christmas Show at Lee's Liquor Lounge is ALWAYS worth the trek!

Holy Mackeral Tattoo Studio Continued

The art on the wall of the studio is varied and really interesting. Most of it has some element of gore or edge to it but I found this particular series fascinating.
Take a good close look at this. It's really incredible all the little things you can find in it.

Holy Mackeral Tattoo Studio

Not only is this place really cool and filled with fun and surprising art, but the owner Vern is professional AND nice as pie to boot!

The Schmidt Brewery

The crown jewel, in my opinion, along West 7th is the Schmidt Brewery. Now abandoned and for sale, I really hope they do something great with this gorgeous classic history landmark!

Grand 7

I've never been in this joint but it's at the bottom of Ramsey Hill (which leads to Grand Avenue - sort of - hence the name Grand 7).

West 7th seems to be host to a variety of tattoo studios. This is one called Visual Addiction.

Mixed Bag

Saint Paul truly is a mixed bag of cultures. Here is the Czechoslovakian American Hall on West 7th. It's now a restaurant called Glockenspiel, but I've always wondered if they still have gatherings of Czechoslovakian American's there.

Just a block or two from West 7th. I love this sign.

West 7th Street

FINALLY some fresh pics. West 7th is more than just a street, it's a neighborhood. One I've been wanting to photograph for some time now. I started today but am by no means done. But I hope you enjoy it, because we'll be here for a spell.

Renaissance Festival

Technically, outside the city limits, way outside actually, but I loved these "jars" for lack of a better word. The artist told me that they were originally created to ward evil spirits off people's graves. I thought they were fabulous!

Used Book Store on Grand Avenue

Loved the map of Minnesota with the big Uff Da on it! It is surrounded by books regarding the area. It's a terrible shot taken with my little point and shoot, but it's all local charm.

Livestock. Don't think it's award winning but I think I captured their best side, don't you?

Massive Crowd Scene at the Food Lines!

Just a few people show up for the Great Minnesota Get Together. Just one or two.

Cheese Curds

Not on a stick but by far one of the most popular staples of the State Fair, or should I say FARE????

Monday, September 07, 2009

While today is officially the last day of the State Fair, I promised you folks 12 days of photos and this only makes day 8 so stay tuned for 4 more days of fair fun!

The Year of SPAM!

Yes, that's right folks! SPAM now has it's very own building at the fair! As if is deserves any less. Deep fried SPAM bites on a stick anyone?

Fair Hair

Also known as a Fair-do, kids young and old can lay down a few bills and walk away with a stunning new look. 2.5 cans of aerosol hairspray per do. So much for the ozone.

The Sky Tower

A few years ago I heard that the fire department was doing rescue training on the Sky Tower because it was a very real possibility that this ancient ride would go KAPUT at the state fair. But I rode it anyway. What a rebel!

Princess Kay of the Milky Way

Teen-aged beauty queens heads carved in butter? Hells yeah! We got that here!

Award winning honey

I love that the honeycombs are in the jars with the honey. So beautiful!

Saint Paul skyline, and a bitchin' bike

Looking northwest into Saint Paul from the river. Ignore that girl in the shot. She totally ruined my photo!

It Came To Me In A Dream

Time to start posting again and so now, after an 18 month absence, Picture Saint Paul.
