The Cups
Because of the karoke, which I loathe with great gusto, I don't frequent this bar often. However, I love that they serve beer in cans and have fantastic people watching. High caliber folks there. Or maybe just high folks there.
I dislike Karaoke too. But I just hear that the Karaoke in Nashville, TN is quite unique in that the people who get up to sing are those who are trying to break into the business. They're great and so everyone feels like they're at a concert.
If I remember correctly, this bar is at Rice & Cottage, just a few blocks east of the very first place I lived in St. Paul when I moved there in 1974. Back then -- long before karaoke had been invented, of course -- it was a pleasant neighborhood establishment. Glad to see it's still around.
Hey now! I will not stand for this trash-talking of the Cups! It's the only place in town with "Fuck her Gently" in the karaoke catalog, and trust me, that means a lot! Granted, most the regulars are on the verge of homelessness. But I stand by the Cups as a class act all the way!

Nice shot. Liked the narrative, too, esp. the "high folks" comment.
