O'Garas held a fundraiser today to help support a MN boy who was severly injured in Iraq. The Patriot Guard Riders were there and this nice Rider let me photograph his vest.

Out with the old, in with the new!

In this day and age, a regular Target just won't do. The one near my house, which the locals affectionately refer to as Targhetto, is soon to be leveled so it can become the parking lot for the new and improved Super Targhetto! In this photo, Target is on the right and Super Target is on the left. In 3 months, Target will be gone and Super Target will be open. Is it just me or does this seem an excessive waste????

Whole Foods

Once I got over being intimidated by this grocery store, I found that they carried some amazing seafood, sausages, cheeses and they have one hell of a salad bar, which is hard to find around these parts. I'm not an organic kind of girl. Why pay twice as much for apples with worm holes? I'll take the chemicals thankyouverymuch. They haven't killed me yet so I think I'll keep on rollin' the dice! But there are some wonderful things you can only find at Whole Foods. Plus, I love the wonderful mural on the side of the building.

Ancient alleys

The Cathedral Hill area hosts some of St. Paul's oldest and most spectacular homes. Behind the scenes of those majestic mansions are some enchanting carriage houses and cobblestone alley ways. Years of use and weather have left their unique imprint on these alley ways and I think they are almost as fabulous as the homes themselves.

One of my favorite homes on Summit, this huge white house reminds me of a plantation home and there is a lovely little park and fountain right next door.

Porch Bandits Strike Again!

I had to stop and photograph this house because it looks like someone snuck in overnight and swiped their porch. A home like this should have a porch. A big one, one that wraps around 3 sides and beckons to friends and neighbors. Don't you think?

Irish Kitty

Assuming I haven't lost ALL my Picture St. Paul readers, I must apologize! I have had less and less time to go out and capture St. Paul in all her glory as I work very hard capturing children's smiles in the same building in Roseville day after day. I thank everyone who stops by and checks in on me and hope that soon I'll have some more lovely sights for you to enjoy. Hang in there folks. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.

Chocolate. It's that chocolatey time of year people. Magical little pockets filled with all kinds of heaven. If you don't have a Valentine to buy them for you, for God sakes buy them for yourself! I actually have a Valentine but I still buy my own chocolates every year. We all deserve it so go ahead and splurge!

Love is on the wall

Saw this snowy gal parked on Summit and thought she looked both sad & neglected AND brave & tough depending on her story. But I'm glad my gal is tucked away safe and warm until spring.

Just Because..............

This is NOT in St. Paul. It's not even close to St. Paul. It's actually in Snowbird, Utah and I took it at the end of this past summer. But I've been going through all my best pictures for my portfolio because I want to go to art school and I've always felt that my photo blog is not my best work. So here is something I'm really proud of. Enjoy! And Happy Friday! :)

Who knew that salvage yards were such marvelous places to take pictures? The one in St. Paul my friend h and I wanted to go to was closed :( but we found this one which was technically in Minneapolis. Located right next door to Cupcake, there were all sorts of treasures to be discovered, like these antique doorknobs.

Cupcake

Anyplace named Cupcake earns an investigative stop from me! Even if it is in Minneapolis and not St. Paul. I ordered The Bettie Crocker Cupcake (spelled the way Cupcake spells it). Vanilla with pink buttercream frosting. Sadly, it was not as good as I was hoping. The frosting was really heavy & dense and so so so so so sweet. Not quite was I was expecting but there were lots of other treats behind the glass that looked tempting. Maybe I'll stop in again sometime, have some brunch, a cup of coffee & a scone or something. Anyplace named Cupcake deserves a second chance.

Within walking distance of my house. The food is cheap, greasy and fantastic!!! We liked it better before the renovations but it still works on a Sunday morning to occasionally soothe a touch of the brown bottle flu!

Fall Meets Winter

I love that this tree still has it's leaves (which turned brown in the fall)
and is now surrounded by snow.

Going for a walk on a rainy day is always a good idea!
